Artist's Comments

I knew I wanted to develop some sort of greenman in leather, either tooled or in a mask - but when I saw an image of the Greenman at Bamberg Cathedral I knew exactly what it had to be.

My design has varied from a full mask with sculpted face and leaf beard, as in the original sculpture, to this truncated version; it was finally made for a party, and as such I hoped to create a design that incorperated the moustache on the original without interfering with eating and drinking. I like its round shape, but I hope to also complete the full-face design, and a few other green men in other varieties of foliage (this one is in acanthus; specifically I'd like to try red and white oak, and fern.)

The true color is a waxy medium green with mild copper accents, but I'd also like to paint one for each of the seasons. Leather and acrylic.

Oh my, that's absolutely stunning! The ribbons are a classy touch! The design of the mask itself is elegantly intricate! The coloring is great! Mad props to you on this tight number!

I know some people who'd love this. Wonderful design, again!

I might. I'm more likely to do another mask with a separate beard, but I'm still trying to work out how to sculpt the mouth and nose in a manner more accurate to the original...
Thanks ^-^

Yes, and my boyfriend's longtime desire for one is a lot of why I got this mask going. I love his layered effect, although I can't imagine how much time some of the bigger masks must take him...
Thanks so much! ^-^

Thank you!! I'll admit I had big callouses on the TOPS of my fingers from the pressure I had to put on the knife..... I like using ribbon because it's strong, and broad enough to be comfortable, while still fully adjustable, but I'm glad the look works for somebody other than me, too.

your welcome ^_^
